Abstract:
This joint webinar aims to provide new PhD candidates at both UoL and XJTLU with essential practical advice on managing intercultural communication during their doctoral research. New PhD students, including those who are new to the UK university system and culture and those who are new to the Chinese culture and a Sino-British university system, often have concerns or even anxieties about, how to adapt to the institutional and local context, culturally and academically. For example, what is the right way to communicate with one’s PhD supervisor(s) and peers who come from a different background?
In this webinar we outline how you can improve your intercultural awareness and communication skills, to help you make the most of your PhD experience in your new environment and enhance your future employment options. There will also be opportunities for you to raise any concerns and questions regarding intercultural communication issues during this session.

Registration: If you are based in Liverpool please use your university of Liverpool email* to register on Eventbrite and then the calendar invitation will be added to your University calendar. We reserve the right to remove attendees who do not appear to be members of this University.

Researchers from XJTLU should use their XJTLU email address.
