Overview

Impact reporting has grown in value exponentially over the last decade. National research assessment frameworks in the UK, Australia and Hong Kong already require systematic impact planning and reporting from research institutions as part of these frameworks. These are worth more than a billion pounds in research grants and Quality Related funding. Impact data has become key for making the business case for investment in research. Whilst the funding landscape is subject to changes, the requirement to demonstrate the wider impact of research continues to grow.

VV-Impact Tracker is a cutting-edge software tool that helps researchers and research institutions to systematically track, store and analyse aggregated impact data and to develop impact case studies and easily report and demonstrate their impact generally. The secure, cloud-based platform specialises in storing impact data, creating organisational memory, facilitating cultural change and managing the development of impact case studies.

Since 2009, Vertigo Ventures has been developing and using its proprietary impact taxonomy, VV-Impact Metrics, as a framework for VV-Impact Tracker to prompt and guide academics and institutions in identifying, managing and presenting their research impact. VV-Impact Tracker is in use in over thirty leading universities worldwide, including Russell Group members. Currently, VV are working closely with several universities in the United Kingdom, Australia and Hong Kong to help them best prepare for their national research assessment exercises of REF 2021, EIA 2018 and RAE 2020 respectively.
