About this Event

Rita Men, Ph.D, APR, associate professor of public relations at the University of Florida will discuss how CEOs and leaders should communicate during the COVID-19 pandemic to instill trust and confidence in employees and keep employees informed and motivated.

Dr. Men will share her recent research findings on leadership communication during the pandemic. Key topics will include “wartime” CEO communication strategies, tactics, and channels and supervisors’ use of motivating language. The webinar will conclude with best practices of leadership communication during the pandemic.

Bio:

Rita Linjuan Men, Ph.D., APR, is an associate professor in the Department of Public Relations at the University of Florida. Men’s background is based primarily in corporate communication research and consulting. Her research interests include employee communication, leadership communication, public engagement, measurement and evaluation, relationship/reputation management, start-up public relations, and emerging technologies.

Men is a renowned expert in employee communication. Her work has been widely published in academic journals in communication, management, and public relations. In addition to over 50 articles, she has lead-authored two books, Excellence in Internal Communication Management (Business Expert Press) and Strategic Communications for Start-ups and Entrepreneurs in China (Routledge).

Men’s scholarship and consulting experience have led her to serve multiple leadership roles in the field, including as advisory board member for the International Public Relations Research Conference (IPRRC) and the International Association for the Measurement and Evaluation of Communication (AMEC) and chief research editor for the Institute for Public Relations’ Organizational Communication Research Center.
