Equipping Professionals to Challenge Harmful Gender Stereotypes with Young People
Overview:
This interactive webinar session is designed to support educators in recognising and addressing how misogyny and harmful gender stereotypes impact children and young people in educational settings.
We'll explore the roots of misogyny, how it manifests among students, and the influence it has on behaviour, attitudes, and wellbeing. The session will also provide practical, age-appropriate strategies and classroom activities to help teachers create inclusive, respectful learning environments.
This interactive session is also designed to equip Thurrock-based professionals with the knowledge and confidence to support others in making informed choices around sexual health and accessing services safely and confidentially.
Aims:
- To provide an overview of how misogyny impacts children and young people in school.
- To offer teachers practical activities and approaches for tackling harmful attitudes in the classroom.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
- Describe the harm gender stereotypes cause young people of all genders.
- Define misogyny and give examples of how it affects young people.
- Feel more confident in raising awareness of misogyny and challenging harmful ideas in the classroom.
