Event description
Workshop on Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit-Sharing (ABS)

About this Event

The Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit-Sharing (ABS) supplements the Convention on Biological Diversity’s third objective on the fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising from the utilisation (research and development) of genetic resources (plants, animals, microbes and other). Those utilising genetic resources may need to acquire permission to access, as well as negotiate terms of use and benefit sharing agreements, with the provider country. The legislation is relevant to those conducting research into the biochemical properties of genetic resources, as well as those at the stage of product development, where the product results from the utilisation of genetic resources.

This webinar will cover an introduction to the Nagoya Protocol and EU Regulation, as well as provide an opportunity to ask the Regulators questions about compliance and raise discussion points on the chat function. The presentation is aimed at those with little understanding or knowledge of the Nagoya protocol or how ABS is enforced in the UK.

The webinar will be conducted via MS Teams (you do not need to have the application to be able to attend) and a link will be sent out in the week commencing 15th June in advance of the webinar at 14:00, 23rd June
