Dr Rachel Moseley explores the challenges autistic young people face in puberty, especially around menstruation, & how best to support them.

Drawing on lived experience and academic research, Dr Rachel Moseley will be discussing some of the challenges facing autistic young people as they enter puberty, with particular focus on menstruation in those assigned female at birth. What are periods like to experience as an autistic person, and how can the people around best support.

Together, we can build a stronger understanding of autism and ensure everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Dr Rachel Moseley is autistic and works as a Principle Academic in Psychology at Bournemouth University. Her research centres on mental health and wellbeing in autistic adults, particularly around suicide and self-injury. Dr Moseley and colleagues conducted the seminal work on menopause in autistic adults, highlighting it as a potential crisis point, and continue to advance knowledge in this limited field.
