The supervision process is a key part of the PhD, but what should you expect from this relationship and what should you do when it does not meet your expectations? This is a session for PhD researchers who are looking to improve their working relationship with their supervisor. Using a discussion-based approach, we will explore the potential issues that can arise, help you to recognise your personal barriers in the relationship and discuss a range of approaches to overcome these barriers.

Within this session we will cover:

  • The University's expectations of supervision and the formal steps for reporting issues with supervision
  • Practical ways for PhD students to develop more effective relationships with their supervisors
  • Approaches to best manage the difficulties that can arise in working relationships
  • Opportunity to discuss issues and share experiences with other students
  • Further opportunities for help and support that are available within the University

This webinar will help you develop skills in 'Personal Qualities', 'Self-management' and 'Working with Others', as outlined in the RDF subdomains B1, B2 and D1.

Registration: You are recommended to use your University of Liverpool email to register on Eventbrite and then the calendar invitation will be added to your University calendar. We reserve the right to remove registrations of attendees who do not appear to be members of this University.
