TLC Connectors
Do you want to be part of a compassionate movement?
Humans have evolved biologically to be natural connectors. We are naturally social because our survival depended on it. Through connection, we help and support each other, creating a sense of community and belonging. When this sense of belonging is present, we feel at home. And yet, with the way that our societies have grown, particularly over the last 100 years, this important sense of connection and belonging has diminished.
At any moment, 20% of people say they feel lonely. Developing paid roles and enrolling volunteers will not resolve this problem. Instead, using our natural gifts, we all can act as connectors. Through becoming an TLC (talk, listen, connect) connector, it is possible to bring back and nourish a sense of belonging. The session also includes a short discussion on grief literacy. 10% of the population are affected by grief and loss each year, so knowing how to be supportive and what to day is important, because this will come up at different points in meeting people. This session will examine the role of TLC connectors, how we can all be part of this and how the impacts of doing so resolve problems of loneliness and isolation. This role of connector is also fundamental to addressing issues of diversity, equity and inclusion.
Everyone who attends, receives a pin badge, to show you are part of the movement.
