Event description
This webinar will cover the components and setting-up of the braking system on Studer/Revox open-reel tape machines.

About this Event

This 90 minute webinar is a must for the owners who are serious about getting the best audio-enjoyment from their recorders.

How well the braking system works is crucial for looking after the precious tapes you record and play on an open-reel tape-recorder. Poor condition, or setup, can lead to the machine throwing tape loops or snatching and stretching the tape.

Presented by Iain Betson, of Reel Resilience, this webinar will cover all the aspects of the braking system found on Studer/Revox quarter inch to 2 inch open-reel tape recorders. It will also be applicable to other makes of machine that use a similar setup to brake the reels. Tips on the tools required, the settings to aim for, plus past experience on what the brakes can tell you about a machine's overall condition.

About Iain: A BBC trained studio support engineer. He worked at London Broadcasting House, at the World famous Maida Vale studios and the radio outside broadcast department. In that time he supported Studer A80, A80 MT, A800MT,, A807, A810, A820 MT, Telefunken M15As, Lyrec Fred & Frida, Revox PR99 & Uher 4000 machines.
