Overview

Sign LOUD: Perspectives of Deaf mothers and signing practitioners on domestic abuse, communication and the impact on Deaf families

This webinar will present findings from the Sign LOUD project (https://signs.hw.ac.uk/projects/co-victims/)

The 1-year project was carried out by Heriot-Watt University and University of Edinburgh and funded by the British Academy.

Results from interviews and focus groups with Deaf mothers and signing practitioners will be shared, as well as recommendations that were co-created with stakeholder organisations with Gender-Based Violence and Deaf/BSL policy and practice expertise.

The webinar will be delivered bilingually in BSL and English, and interpreters will be present.

Anyone with an interest in domestic abuse, communication and families in the deaf community is welcome to attend, including Deaf community members, BSL interpreters, policymakers, service providers, Deaf charities and advocacy groups, etc.
