Live webinar: Unlock the 'medicine chest' on your farm with Medical Herbalist & Pasture Consultant, Kate Scott.

About this event

Live online via Zoom on Thursday June 30th 2022, 7.30-9.30pm (BST): Learn how to make the most of the natural medicine chest on your farm with The Drover's Daughter.

In this 2 hour webinar, Medical Herbalist, shepherdess and pasture consultant, Kate Scott shares her wisdom based on a lifetime of experience using herbs and medicinal plants for livestock health and nutrition. By the end of the webinar you will know exactly how to establish 'natural dispensaries' on your farm to benefit grazing animals and wildlife.

Interest in diverse pasture and herbal leys has become more mainstream in farming in recent years. However, the potential of field margins and hedgerows, including trees and shrubs, is often completely overlooked, as are those awkward paddocks or patches of land. Not only are these critically important bio-diverse habitats for wildlife but they are an important source of natural supplementation and 'medicine' for grazing animals who will self-medicate themselves and choose plants for their prophylactic properties if provided with the right ingredients. For example, animals will often strip willow which has analgesic properties and contains the phytochemical salicin which was used in the synthesis of Aspirin in 1899.

In this webinar Kate shares her extensive knowledge on those plants native to our headlands and hedgerows that have specific medicinal properties, which boost immunity and which can act prophylactically.

Ticket holders will be invited to submit questions for Kate in advance and a lifetime recording will be available for those who cannot make it on the night.

Kate's unique handout notes will accompany the webinar and the recording.

NB The Zoom Link will be emailed to you 24hrs before the start of the live event.
