The first few months of a PhD can seem very daunting. You may be settling into a very different environment, trying to manage many administrative demands from your Department and the University, meeting many new people, while also finding time to start your research project. This webinar aims to give support to those just starting their PhD, with information on the essentials and guidance on what to expect in the first few months.

Specifically we will offer discuss the following topics:

  • Settling in to your Department/Institute

  • Finding essential support

  • The supervisory relationship

  • Managing your training and Development

  • Good practice in your research

There will be time to ask questions about any aspect of the PhD process and share your experiences with other new researchers.

This workshop will help you to gain skills in 'Personal qualities', 'Self-management' and 'Professional and career development', as outlined in the RDF subdomains B1, B2 and B3.

Registration: You are recommended to use your University of Liverpool email to register on Eventbrite and then the calendar invitation will be added to your University calendar. We reserve the right to remove registrations of attendees who do not appear to be members of this University.
