About this event

This is the second in a series of Zoom webinars organised by the knowledge mobilisation (KM) team at the NIHR Health Protection Research Unit in Behavioural Science and Evaluation (HPRU BSE) at University of Bristol.

We will send you a Zoom link to join the seminar a day ahead of the event.

In this webinar, we will consider why and when you should work with the media, what the media needs, and how your press office can provide help and support. We will be joined by the University of Bristol’s media manager, Joanne Fryer, who will give insight into the role of the press office, how to prepare for media interviews and what to do when things go wrong. We will also be joined by Ellen Brooks-Pollock, a senior mathematical modeller at the HPRU BSE who is on the Government’s Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies SPI-M group, and has been interviewed widely in local and national media about COVID-19. Ellen will be sharing her experiences and top tips as our media ‘expert by experience’. The webinar will be led by Helen Bolton, Communications Officer at the HPRU BSE.
