The Workshop Details:
Session 1 = Introduction to Wedding Styling
This is the warm up session that walks you through a framework that I use in all of my weddings where I take you through the key ingredients you need to create a memory making wedding ceremony and wedding reception. We look at both informal and more formal wedding styles throughout this session so there is truly something for everyone.
Everything is broken down into the parts you need and the extras you might want; how to use colour, texture and lighting effectively, how to decide on your “look” and where to find the best ideas online. And the all-important insider information that you need for setting it all up - the key “kit” you need and the importance of timing!
Session 2: Styling Your Wedding Ceremony
Moving into session 2 we focus on the most important part of your day – the wedding ceremony. Although this is the key part of your wedding day lots of people on a budget are reluctant to spend money on it because “we’re only in there for 15 minutes!” – sound familiar? So with that in mind we focus on creating the memory making details that will wow but won’t break the bank, and also talk about how to recycle your wedding styling items from wedding ceremony to wedding reception.
We look at styling your aisle, creating focal points in the ceremony space and we get you hands on with some flowers. As a group we will create a hanging flower backdrop that can be attached to any wall anywhere and we get each of you to make a gyp flower crown. I’ll show you how to adapt this to a bridal flower crown and how to use this technique in other areas of your styling.
Session 3 – Hands On Flowers: Button Holes & Bouquet Demonstration
You are each going to make a button hole and then I will demonstrate a hand tied bouquet for you. Full instructions will be shared with you on the amount and type of flowers used so you have that information to take home with you. The cost of a button hole from a florist today is approximately £5.50 - £8.50 but you can learn to make these for much less!
Lunch Break – 1 hour
To keep the workshops costs as low as possible unfortunately we are not providing lunch for you but you are in the centre of Stratford Upon Avon and have a huge choice of places to eat within a short walk of the venue. Or the room will remain open during lunchtime for you to use if you’d rather hang with us!
Session 4 - Buying and Preparing Your Flowers
This session is all about giving you the information you need to find, order, handle and prepare cut flowers. A crash course for you on what you need to do, when you need to do it, and the kit you need with of course a list of places to buy it and guide prices. We will look at the prices of buying flowers wholesale online and look at the average prices that wedding florists charge as a comparison for you.
Session 5 – Table Decorating Using Flowers
This session is a mixture of demonstration and you getting hands on with the flowers. We will look at several different arrangements of flowers that you can create for your table centrepieces from single stems through to flower arrangements in oasis. When these are created we will then style a full table around them in the next session…
Session 6 – Styling Your Wedding Tables
Beginning with the essentials of what you need on your top table & guest tables we look at how to pull all of your ideas together. Working with the flowers that you have already created we then introduce a selection of other table decorations for you to style up several different looks. For all of the additional items we use I will share with you how I have made them, the cost, and where to source the item or component parts. This session alone can save you money!
The Final Round Up – Ask Me Anything!
A chance for you to ask any questions specific to your own wedding or to ask me anything! We aim to finish around 4.45 – 5.00pm.
Where Do I Park?
Yes the hotel has it’s own car park. It is barrier controlled and you will need to take a ticket on entry. Your parking is included in the price of your workshop ticket and you will receive an exit ticket at the end of the day. If you are being dropped to the hotel please do not use the hotel car park as you will be charged – we only get the exit tickets at the end of the day.
