This course will run on 25 January and 1st February 6.30pm-8.30pm . You need to attend both sessions.
- 1st session will be in the Parent Education Room (Lower Ground Floor)
- 2nd session will be in the Neonatal Unit (Room 2).
It is offered to parents expecting a baby that has been diagnosed with a difference from prenatal diagnosis/scanning who may need special care, surgery or may be poorly at birth.
This course is open to all parents in this situation including those who have experienced childbirth before
On the course you will:
- Meet other parents in a similar situation
- Learn about labour and delivery and the team involved in caring for your baby
- Build confidence in parenting a baby who may need special care or surgery
This course will be taught by mixture of specialisms from Parent Ed, Fetal Med and NNU.

We encourage all women booked at the Birmingham Women's to attend our free parent education classes. Please note you MUST be booked at the Women's to attend our classes.
Classes are completely free but must be booked in advance.
We aim to cover the process of labour and birth, stages of labour, when to come in and what to bring, getting labour started and medical induction, managing pain, self help techniques, birth, assisted birth, caesarean birth and lots of practical babycare skills. A tour of the delivery suite is included.
Try to attend your course between 30 and 35 weeks. If due to your baby's health, you need to attend earlier please book accordingly. You can book anytime before that.
