Student guides from the Zoology and Biological Sciences Society at the University of Aberdeen are ready to give you, your family, and your friends FREE tours of the amazing life of this planet.

Where to go

Please go to the Zoology Building foyer five minutes before the tour is due to start. A member of the tour team will be waiting to welcome you. If tours are full, you can still enjoy a self-guided visit to the Zoology Museum. The Zoology museum is open 10.00 – 16.00 Monday-Friday. Entry is free to all! For more information and how to find us visit the Zoology Museum website.

Booking onto a tour is recommended but we also welcome people who drop-in on the day.

Tours during the October Holidays will be family focussed. Early booking is recommended as these tours fill up fast.

About the Student Guides

The Zoology Museum tours are devised and led by the students, with support from the University Collections team. Your guide may be a student who has already given many tours, or they may be giving their first tour. You are welcome to ask questions, if there are questions the student guides are unable to answer, you can contact us at uoacollections@abdn.ac.uk. We hope you enjoy your experience.

Book a Private Group Tour

For groups interested in a private student-led tour of the Zoology Museum, please contact University Collections. This might be a Society/ Club / Work Group etc. The Museum is open Monday-Friday between 10am - 4pm but we may be able to accommodate some tours outside of these times. There is no charge for a group tour, but donations are always welcome.

Email uoacollections@abdn.ac.uk for further information.

A Note on Parking and Access

  • Parking on site is reserved for staff and students Monday-Friday during semester, October-December.
  • Blue badge holders are welcome to use the disabled bays in the car park.
  • Alternative parking for visitors can be found on the Chanonry and Bedford Road (both are pay and display).
  • If you are visiting with a buggy or wheelchair, parking on the Chanonry and entering via Cruickshank Botanic Garden (AB24 3UU) is much easier as it avoids stairs. Thank you for your understanding. To access the museum, park on the eastern side of the botanic garden and follow the paved path through the gardens, up the ramp and into the zoology building, the path is marked in yellow on the map below.

For further information on disabled access please see AccessAble.
