About this Event

IWM (Integrated Weed Management): the future for sustainable weed management in the UK?

This one-day workshop will introduce the principles of Integrated Weed Management hosted at Rothamsted Research. A range of speakers from Rothamsted and NIAB will introduce the subject area, give up to date information on the status of herbicide resistance in the UK, thoughts on new non-chemical options and data platforms that can accessed for information. Alongside this there will be data presented from field trials, which have been plugging gaps in our knowledge base. Also, there will be presentations about the benefits of weeds, or arable plants and the role they play in the farming ecosystem across rotations.

After lunch join our field tours of Rothamsted’s classical experiments, including Broadbalk which is the world’s longest running agricultural experiment and new the Large Scale Rotational Experiment.

• Dr Chloe MacLaren: Making Peace with weeds

• Dr Helen Metcalfe: Weed biodiversity / communities across rotations

• Richard Hull: New / emerging non-chemical control technologies

• Dr David Comont: Resistance update

• Laura Crook: Croprotect, what can it do for you?
