Enjoy a two-day immersive experience, working with our palaeontologists and geologists to learn hands on skills. This includes training in fossil excavation, identification, conservation, and curation, using tools and techniques needed in our live dig.
Set in the scenic Welsh hills near Wrexham, the site is accessible and rich in heritage. Discovered in 2001, the Brymbo Fossil Forest contains fossilized remains of prehistoric plants like club-mosses, horsetails, and tree ferns. It is now protected and managed by the Stori Brymbo team.
The Brymbo Fossil Forest site preserves a Carboniferous forest, offering a rare glimpse into one of the planet’s earliest rainforests. This environment was home to massive arthropods, extinct plant species, and ancient amphibians—ancestors to modern terrestrial life.
