Description

SPLASH FICTION COMPETITION #VBWoW

Our Weekend Of Words festival (7-9 June 2019) marks the official launch of our first creative writing competition, complete with cash prize.

We’re on the lookout for short stories that make a real splash – take municipal baths, lidos, wild swimming, ponds, water parks, rivers, canals, as your jumping-off point and dive in. You’ll need to wow Sarah-Clare Conlon, the Victoria Baths inaugural Writer-in-Residence, who is also working on new stories influenced by Manchester’s Water Palace.

Fancy taking the plunge? Send flash fiction up to 300 words long on the theme of ‘water’ to us by midnight Sunday 4 August 2019.

  • £100 cash prize

  • Winner and runners-up are invited to read alongside Sarah-Clare Conlon at a special gala ceremony during Swim Weekend, 7-8 September 2019
