Event description
What does the bible say about caring for the foreigner amongst us? How can we apply this to our context in Tyneside?

About this Event

This event is jointly hosted by Red Letter Christians UK and Action Foundation.

Shane will speak about God’s concern for refugees and Julian Prior will talk about how and why he started the charity Action Foundation in response to meeting destitute asylum seekers at City Church. By using a mixture of film (from the Channel 4 comedy ‘Home’) and interview with others who have responded to this call this event will present some practical ways you can respond to the problem of destitution by sharing the comfort of your home in a safe and sustainable way.

Shane Claiborne founded the Red Letter Christians network in America in 2007 with Tony Campolo. Their vision was to gather a network of communicators and activists to challenge the church to emulate Jesus’ love, mercy, and grace in a counter-cultural way. Red Letter Christians UK is a new relational network seeking to extend that founding vision to all who want to live for Jesus and justice in the UK. Action Foundation is a charity started by City Church Newcastle that supports asylum seekers, refugees and other migrants with supported housing and free English classes.
