Witham library is host to a very special social group. New born babies and their parents meet at the library on Thursdays 11am to 12noon. They enjoy some time chatting and gurgling over a cup of tea or a bottle of milk. The babies chill out on our baby mats or have a snooze, leaving the parents with time for a natter.
Witham library have put this group together with the help of an ECC microgrant. It’s been a challenge and has taken perseverance, but we have succeeded in creating a valuable service for the community.
It’s fantastic to see new parents getting together and forming friendships. It’s obvious from observing the session that by simply being together, new parents are benefiting; they are socialising and combating loneliness.
Come and hear our story, meet the parents and new babies…..who of course have library tickets. It’s fantastic what can be achieved without spending huge sums of money
