Event description

Description

This workshop is funded by the European Regional Development Fund and is hosted by our project delivery partner, Peak District National Park.

Aimed predominantly at accommodation providers, but also beneficial for cycle hire, tour guides and other tourism businesses in the vicinity of popular Peak District cycle trails, this stimulating course will help provide a higher quality experience for the growth markets of cyclists.

Rural tourism is a growing sector of the tourism industry and an important aspect of the rural economy throughout England. Day trips, short breaks and holidays that include cycling are growing in popularity with both domestic and international visitors.

Cyclists are therefore a vital sector of the market for many tourism businesses located in rural areas, and one that it is worthwhile to attract and encourage to return.

This workshop has been developed to provide guidance on meeting the criteria of Pedal Peak for Business grants, as well as to provide a broader appreciation of the value, character and requirements of the cycling market, and the wider changes occurring in rural tourism. It is also designed to highlight local opportunities for cycling, and offer practical tips on product development, packaging and marketing to cyclists to enable SME Visitor Economy businesses within Derbyshire to work together to maximise the benefits.

With guest speaker: Susie Brindley of Willow Business Support Limited www.willowbusinesssupport.co.uk Susie has delivered numerous "Cyclists Welcome" workshops, including for Yorkshire for the Tour de France - Grand Depart 2014.

This afternoon session begins with networking and a buffet lunch
