Libby from Magpie and the Mob and Charlotte Manser Ceramics are joining up to bring you a glorious day retreat of mindfulness practices and pottery in the Oxfordshire countryside.
The day will start with Charlotte and a hand building pottery workshop.
You will get stuck into building with your hands, feeling the clay and using different processes to create your own vessel. Connecting with the material and understanding how the pressure from your fingertips can change the form and texture of the clay.
We will continue our day with a session of Drawn Mindfulness with Libby; being guided through a series of mindful meditations, sensory drawing, meditative journaling and breathing exercises to relax your busy brain. The session will be guided by Libby to allow you to connect with yourself and the world around you in a new way; this practice is especially good if you struggle to meditate and quiet your mind, whether through stress or neurodivergence.
Before we break for a delicious lunch provided by Little Grazey, we will go on a short mindful walk in the surrounding countryside, taking in our surroundings and collecting objects of interest.
The final part of our day will be spent working into our clay vessels; imprinting into the clay being inspired by our drawings and the objects from our walk. Translating these onto the clay with coloured slips and paper.
Included in the ticket
- All materials for the workshops.
- Lunch and drinks (please let us know of any dietary requirements)
- Glazing and firing of your pottery - this will be done post workshop, your pieces will be ready to collect 2 weeks later (postage is available for a fee).
