Welcoming Families with Autism Workshop
Event Information
Description
Would you like to make your museum, gallery or other venue more welcoming for children with autism and their families?
Come and find out some practical and achievable ways you can do just that at our newest workshop.
Our full line-up will be finalised soon, but here's a sneak preview of some of the speakers:
- Sally Fort, who is undertaking research into how museums are trying to be more autism friendly, will chair the day
- Carol Povey of the National Centre for Autism will be our Keynote Speaker
- Ellen Lee will share insights from the excellent work the RAF Museum and Museum Disability Cooperative Network are doing
- Claire Madge of Tincture of Museum will talk about what museums and galleries can do to be more inclusive towards families of a child with autism
- Trudie Cole of Poole Museum Service will explain how she worked with young people with autism on a Takeover Day project
- Rachel Oliver of Circus Starr, will present the award-winning Show and Tell app for welcoming children with autism into the circus
We'll hear about the Early Birds and Night Owls programme at the Science Museum itself and the Young Patrons of Ambitious About Autism will share their take on accessing the arts and culture.
It promises to be a very inspiring day. Join us to find out how your museum or gallery can become more inclusive and welcoming.
