Event description
Well-being: Going deeper as we explore the relationship between our emotional and spiritual life

About this event

Whilst there is now more public awareness around issues of mental and emotional well-being, it can raise questions about how that relates to our spiritual life: are emotional struggles a result of spiritual problems; can a better understanding of our emotional lives help deepen our individual relationship with God?

This experiential workshop will explore our ‘emotional’ and ‘spiritual’ life, offering a holistic view of what it means to be human. It will also look at how our early experience of relationships affects our relationship with God and others, as well as consider ways in which we may engage with God at a deeper, ‘emotional’ level.

The workshop will be led by Dr Janet Penny (C. Psychol., AFBPsS, Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, Chartered Psychologist, Health & Care Professions Council Practitioner Psychologist). Janet is a Counselling Psychologist working at Waverley Abbey College. As well as having a private clinical practice, she is a research supervisor for doctoral candidates at the Metanoia Institute and London School of Theology. Janet has an interest in how faith and psychology integrate in Christian counselling, and in Christian mindfulness. She enjoys photography and is also involved in prayer ministry at her local church.
