Description

Dipping into the Wells

Pipsticks Walks is delighted to partner with Thames Valley Nordic Walking to offer one of our special ‘Well Walks’ to help raise funds for community projects in The Gambia.

A Nordic walking friend of ours, Rob Leder, is involved with various organisations in The Gambia that help families and communities through education and clean water supply projects.

Our special Well Walks seemed to be a perfect match for a fundraising opportunity to help ensure that a whole community can benefit from clean running water, something which we all take for granted. Rob will be joining us on this walk and will be happy to talk about his volunteer work and the projects which will benefit from your donations.

Walk Description:

This 10 mile circular walk explores the importance of wells to the villages of the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). In days gone by the communities here relied on local ponds and wells for their water. Piped water did not reach many communities until the mid-1900s. Our route takes us through the villages of Peppard, Gallowstree Common and Highmoor Cross with their covered wells and Stoke Row with the magnificent Maharajah's Well, complete with golden elephant!

All this walking is thirsty work and there is the opportunity to enjoy post walk refreshment in the red Lion at Peppard Common.

Walk Fee:

This walk is raising funds for community projects in The Gambia. We recommend a minimum donation of £12, but the choice of how much to give is yours.
