Event description

Description

Newcastle CVS supports and organises the Wellbeing and Health Open Forums for community, voluntary and social enterprise sector organisations working in Newcastle and Gateshead. This is a platform to share and learn about good practice, identify trends and enable all of us to make the best of our skills and scarce resources.

This is the first of our three Wellbeing and Health Open Forum events that we are hosting this year. Each of the Forums has a distinct and current theme, and the first of these is 'Food and the voluntary sector'. This will look at the wide range of initiatives involving food in our region. Many of us are familiar with the work of local foodbanks and similar organisations that are responding to food poverty, but food and activities relating to it are at the heart of many projects, for many reasons: combatting isolation, making links between different communities, promoting wellbeing, empowering people with life skills and new opportunities for employment, and not least, simply for the enjoyment of making and eating food together.

The programme for the day is still in development, and we'll be giving further details as these are confirmed
