Join us at The Central Park Hub to raise your voice and sing for wellbeing! Singing has been widely studied for its positive effects on wellbeing, both mentally and physically. These accessible and fun sessions are focused on the benefits from singing in a group, in a beautiful setting in Central Park.
The Hub can be located just past the Meadow Cafe, by the Clock Tower and is a short walk from free parking. Sessions are £3 per person per session.
What can singing in a group do for me?
- Reduce stress and anxiety: A 2017 Frontiers in Psychology study found that group singing significantly reduces cortisol levels and increases feelings of relaxation.
- Improved Mood & Happiness: Singing releases endorphins and oxytocin, hormones linked to pleasure and bonding. In a UK-wide survey of over 1,000 choir members (University of East Anglia, 2016), 76% reported improved mood, and 69% felt happier after singing.
- Mental Health Support: 68% of people with diagnosed mental health conditions reported that singing in a group helped them manage their condition better (Voices Now Choir Survey, 2017).
