CIPD South Yorkshire Branch would like to invite you to our next event ‘Wellbeing in the workplace’.
This interactive event will cover a range of employee wellbeing initiatives and will discuss the impact these can have on productivity, absenteeism and business results.
With presentations from some of the country’s leading experts in physical and mental health and sleep education, the seminars will highlight ways employers can build a strategy that will support their staff’s overall health and wellbeing whist at work.
In partnership with Westfield Health, these sessions will provide HR professionals with the tools they need to create a health and wellbeing strategy – no matter what stage you’re at.
Got a burning question about building your health and wellbeing strategy? You’ll have the opportunity to ask key note speaker Professor Robert Copeland from Sheffield Hallam University your own questions about how best to develop a workplace wellbeing strategy – just submit your questions when you sign up below.
This promises to be an interactive, and illuminating session that is sure to book up quickly.

If you are travelling to the event by car, then discount car-parking is available in the Atkinsons Car Park across the road from Westfield. A full date rate of £4.00 is available (you need to ensure that you have your ticket validated at the Westfield Health main reception).

09.40 – Session 1 - key note speaker Robert Copeland: A Professor of Physical Activity and Health at The Centre for Sport & Exercise Science and Sheffield Hallam University, and project manager for the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine in Sheffield. This expert led session on how best to develop a workplace wellbeing strategy and the how the importance of culture, leadership and environment plays a vital part.
10.30 – Q and A with Professor Robert Copeland
11.00 – Break
11.15 – Session 2 - Fiona Lowe, Director of HR at Westfield Health: How do you get your employee’s engaged with your health and wellbeing strategy? This session covers how to get your staff to sit up and take notice of what’s on offer and the importance of helping them make the right choices for their own wellbeing.
12.15 – Lunch and networking
13.00 – Session 3 - James Wilson AKA The Sleep Geek, Sleep behaviour and environment expert: Did you know that 79% of employees have some sort of sleep issue? Taking you through the importance of sleep and how it forms the foundation of our health and wellbeing, this session covers the tools and knowledge employees needs to be able to make the behavioral and environmental changes that will help them sleep better.
13.30 – Session 4 - Barry Wood, Managing Director of 7hills Fitness: Wellbeing in action – this session is a real life example of how getting employees moving more at work and engaging them with healthy eating habits can have a huge impact on staff’s wellbeing.
14.00 – Break
14.10 – Session 5 - Richard Holmes – Director of Wellbeing at Westfield Health: Why should companies be investing in health and wellbeing? This session highlights the current issues workplace’s are facing and reveal what organisations are doing to tackle these issues, and how they’re doing it.

We are the South Yorkshire & District Branch of CIPD - the professional body for HR and people development. The not-for-profit organisation champions better work and working lives and has been setting the benchmark for excellence in people and organisation development for more than 100 years.

The Branch also offers a successful mentoring programme for members and has recently been expanded to include job search mentoring.
