Event description

Description

Wellbeing Presents is introducing a new series of talks and workshops focusing on different therapies each month. Coinciding with our featured Therapy of The Month these talks and workshops aim to offer a deeper understanding of the benefits and approaches of different therapies.

For our fifth talk of the series we are focusing on Somatic Movement.

Somatic movement offers a way to learn about ourselves from within. In this talk you will learn about the development of the body from an embryological perspective and experience the qualitative difference between the mind, body and emotions.

Drawing on Somatic Psychology and Body-Mind Centering (BMC) you will be creatively guided through experiences of your body’s internal structures and systems. Gaining a deeper appreciation of our body sensations and listening to their messages assist us in integrating these diverse body parts. This process gives rise to feelings of aliveness, wholeness and creativity.

Astrid’s experience comes from the study and practice of Experiential Anatomy, Psychology, Authentic Movement and Shiatsu. She will draw parallels between what we experience in our inner world to what is happening in the world around us, and show how an increased somatic awareness can bring about both individual and collective change.

This talk will be followed by a more in-depth somatic movement workshop on awakening the spine by Alistair Edmunds on 27th October.
