Event description

Description

On the third Saturday of every month join us at the Wellcome Genome Campus. Each month there is an afternoon of activity, and something fun for everyone! There's a chance to visit our exhibition and get stuck into science with some hands-on actvities. You will also have the chance to join a guide for a visit to Open Lab, an exciting new space on campus for you to discover more about our history and the cutting-edge research that happens today. Everyone is welcome, though we recommend Open Lab for ages 10 and up.

Until April 2019 you can visit Curious Nature, an interactive exhibition for all the family. The exhibition explores the Wellcome Sanger Institute's 25 Genomes project; sequencing 25 UK species for the first time. Discover what we could uncover and get curious about nature!

The event cafe will be open, selling a range of drinks and small snacks. You are welcome to bring a packed lunch with you too.

Open Saturdays are FREE for everyone but booking is required.

To celebrate the festive season, our colleagues at the Wellcome Genome Campus Conference Centre invite you to share in the holiday spirit with a screening of Arthur Christmas at our 15th December event! The film will start at 2pm in our auditorium, so you can have fun at Open Saturday before you take your seats. Tickets are £5 adults/£2.50 children. Find out more and book your tickets here!

What are my transport/parking options for the event?

The Wellcome Genome Campus is situated about 10 miles south of Cambridge. Driving or cycling to the Campus is the easiest way to reach us. Whittlesford Parkway and Great Chesterford train stations are both about 2 miles from the Campus but have limited facilities (neither has a taxi rank). There is plenty of free parking at the Wellcome Genome Campus.

When should I arrive?

When you arrive at the main entrance, please drive up to the security barriers and give your name to the person in the security booth. Please use the barrier intercom for access if the booth happens to be unattended.

Open Saturdays are drop-in, and you can arrive at a time to suit you. Last admission to the campus is 3.30pm, and the event ends at 4pm.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No you don't need to bring your ticket, as your name will be on our attendee list at the entrance.

Are refreshments available?

The event cafe will be open, selling a range of drinks and small snacks. You are welcome to bring a packed lunch with you too.

Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?
