What is Open Saturday?

The Wellcome Genome Campus is open every third Saturday of the month for you to explore! Visit our changing exhibitions, meet scientists, try hands-on activities, and explore the Campus to discover its history and the cutting-edge science that happens here today.

An ideal trip for curious people of all ages; come and discover the exciting world of genomics in creative and delightful ways.

Open Saturdays are FREE for everyone but booking is required.

Open Saturday: Tube Investments and the Origins of the Human Genome Project
Sat 15 June, 1-4pm

We are celebrating the origins of the Campus by opening an installation marking the location of the Tube Investments Group Research Laboratory. This permanent installation will reflect the work of the Campus, both as the European home of the Human Genome Project, as well as its pre-genomics history.

Many local people may remember working at the Tube Investments building, as well as the (then) Sanger Centre, and at June’s Campus Open Saturday we will be holding a small event for its first public viewing. Join us for drinks and nibbles between 2.30-3.30pm!

Can you defeat The Helix?

An alien life form known as The Helix has found Earth and is taking over the planet as we know it! We We need you to take on the mission of defeating the Helix by solving puzzles and working out clues.

Enter Mission HQ and receive information and clues from scientists from across the globe who are working with you on this life-or-death mission, uncovering how the Helix communicate and how they use genetic information to infiltrate and overtake other lifeforms. Only your puzzle-solving skills can save us now…

Communications tell us that The Helix will arrive on Saturday 18 May, and you will have until Saturday 21 September to defeat them…

There is a also separate mission - if you choose to accept it - a bookable timed immersive game, reccommended for groups of 3-6 players, aged 14+. Book your session here!
