Event description

Description

On the third Saturday of every month join us for an afternoon of activities, from curator talks to hands-on DNA-based science activities and a tour of the Wellcome Genome Campus. We're open 12-2:30pm, and you can drop in at any time.

Through a changing programme of displays and exhibitions the Cultural Zone explores the stories of genomics research, and encourages you to discuss the social impact of genetics.

Hidden Lives: a story of discovery is our latest exhibition. The exhibition features archaeological artefacts discovered at the Wellcome Genome Campus, including ancient human remains – some of which have been whole genome sequenced. Developed in partnership with campus scientists and archaeologists, the exhibition explores what we can discover about the past from the things left behind, and how archaeology and DNA analysis can be used to help us better understand our past but also more about ourselves.

Objects, illustrations and film bring to life the story of the Human Genome Project; a project that revolutionised biomedical science and our ability to explore what makes us, and all life. You can also find out about trees of life. From medieval illustrations to Darwin’s sketches and beyond, trees have helped us understand how life is connected.

On Saturday 16th December, make an afternoon of it as the Wellcome Genome Campus Conference Centre will be hosting a special festive screening of family favourite "Home Alone", from 2-4.30pm in our tiered auditorium. Tickets are £4 adults, £2 children. More details and to book your film ticket via this weblink. https://www.eventsforce.net/homealone
