This is our regular live literature open mic event, with 5-minute slots available for your poetry, stories or monologues. You are welcome to read your own work. September’s host is Julie McKiernan with special guest, Susan Brownrigg.
About Susan...
Susan Brownrigg, a Wigan lass and published author, loves writing about northern people, places and events.
Susan enjoys delivering author talks, workshops and events to all ages. She is a former journalist and sub-editor, heritage and wildlife educator, and museum learning manager. She now works as a part time library assistant and is currently studying an MA in creative writing. She is the author of five historical mysteries for children aged 8+ published by Fox and Ink Books. Her latest, Wrong Tracks, inspired by the Rainhill Trials, received a five-star review in the Daily Telegraph. She is currently working on her first historical mystery for adults.

Susan will read an extract from her short story ‘The Eagle and Child’ which is inspired by the Lancashire legend of a baby being found in an eerie and adopted by Sir Thomas Lathom, and two of her heritage inspired flashes.

Exact location will be decided on the day depending on the weather. The event will either take place in the Classroom on the first floor of the Stables Courtyard or in the grounds of the park. Please check at the Visitor Centre on the day. There is a lift to the first floor, accessible toilets on the ground floor and accessible parking.
