Description

To mark the legacy of HG Wells in Woking, local residents in Woking plan to hold a Wells in Woking Day on the 21st September 2017 organised by the Wells in Woking Community Association. Wells lived in Woking when he was at his most creative and productive, writing the famous “War of the Worlds” novel set on Horsell Common. Woking hosted a year-long set of celebrations in 2016, the 150th anniversary of his birth and 70th of his death.

The day events will culminate with a panel discussion with the sculptors of "The Martian" - Michael Condon and of HG Wells - Wesley Hadland as well as a discussion with multi award winning independent filmmaker and producer and radio drama producer/director director Andrew Sewell (Dan Dare with Ed Stoppard, The Martian Chronicles with Derek Jacobi and Hayley Atwell, Blake's 7, IRobot) and writer Richard Kurti. Richard is a screenwriter and novelist whose film writing includes screenplay commissions for Universal, Warner Bros. Miramax, Working Title and Pathe. Television and Radio drama credits include Robin Hood (BBC One), Primeval (ITV), Wolfblood (CBBC), The Martian Chronicles (BBC Radio 4), I, Robot (BBC Radio 4) and Jungle Book (Audible
