Beginners Part 2

Content

Please note that that this is a basic outline and course contents may vary slightly.

Unit 1: Revision of giving personal information and phrases used on the Access Course/ Beginner Part 1.  The phrases of Fy hoff...i and Fy nghas ... i (Favourite and Least Favourite)  are introduced plus the mutation rule.

Unit 2: In this unit delegates will be introduced to the 3rd person. They will express personal information in the third person (positive and negative).

Unit 3: In this unit, the third person is further developed to include describing people including hair colour, eye colour, height etc.

Unit 4: In this unit, delegates will be introduced to the topic of clothes. They will be taught to describe what they are wearing as well as descriing other people's clothing.

Unit 5: Delegates will be introduced to shops, buildings and facilities within the local area. They will learn the points of the compass and how to ask for/give directions.

Unit 6: An introduction to the past tense in the first person of the verb e.g. bwytais i...

Timings 

  • Saturday 10.30 - 17.00
  • Sunday 09.30 - 14.30

Who should attend this course?

The contents of all of the courses have been developed for both Primary and Secondary school based staff and aim to develop delegates’ Welsh language skills and pedagogy.  All courses follow on from each other and delegates can enter the programme of courses at the appropriate stage. 

What to bring…

Delegates should bring a Smart phone or iPad / Tablet if they have one, any stationery that they require and a sense of humour!

Lee Taylor is an experienced practising teacher and former Head of Department for Welsh as a Second Language.  He is currently teaching languages in a Welsh Medium Comprehensive School.
