Welsh Significance Programme: How to conduct a collection review

Join Sporting Heritage’s Fran Stovold, for the first of five linked sessions which will give you the skills and understanding to undertake your own significance assessment. Each session will build your knowledge but can also be viewed as stand alone sessions. All sessions will be recorded and be available to watch back via the Sporting Heritage YouTube channel.

This first session will focus on conducting a collections review. As part of this we will look at the following topics:

• What is a collections review?
• What are the benefit and barriers?
• How can a collections review relate to a significance assessment?
• Things to consider before you start

As part of the session we will look at in more detail the individual stages of setting up your collection review which include:

1. Setting objectives

2. Scope of review

3. Who will be involved

4. Choosing / developing your methodology

5. Creating your collections review plan / matrix

6. How to record your review

7. Analysis and follow up activity
