Event Details

Join us for our Centenary Conference to boost your Continued Professional Development as the Women's Engineering Society celebrates 100 years as a leading registered membership organisation supporting women in engineering.

We will reflect on our rich heritage and share the stories of some amazing pioneers at the RAF Museum – the perfect venue to celebrate our Centenary. Some of the most talented women in engineering today will be speaking; and we will discuss how female engineers can transform our future in the next 100 years.

Confirmed Speakers include:

Mandy Hickson, Ex-fighter pilot, RAF and motivational speaker

Air Marshal Sue Gray, Air Officer Commanding No 38 Group, Royal Air Force

Rachel Higham, Managing Director of IT, British Telecom

Emma Howard-Boyd, Chair, Environment Agency and Steering Committee Member, 30% Club

Eva Tutchell and John Edmonds, authors of ‘Man-Made: Why So Few Women Are in Positions of Power?’ (2015) and ‘The Stalled revolution: Is equality for women an impossible dream?’ (2017)

Dawn Childs, WES President and Group Engineering Director at Merlin Entertainments

We will also showcase one hundred years of the Women's Engineering Society in an exhibition from our archives and our Heritage Lottery Funded WES Centenary Trail project courtesy of the IET's Library and Archives team.

We will end the conference with a drinks reception amongst the new "RAF at 100" displays.
