Event description

Description

Starting from the village of Kirknewton, our route climbs to the top of 2 small hills to the south of the village.

With the hillfort of Yeavering Bell towering over us to the south and the Stone Age palace of Gefrin in the valley to the north, spend some time envisaging the people of ancient times, and their way of life.

Please dress for changeable weather, wear walking boots or shoes and bring drinks and snacks. If you have not already booked online, please pay on arrival.

Lace up your boots and enjoy a great time outside.

• Duration: 2.5 hrs
• Distance: 3.5 miles
• Category: Easy
• Starting point (please meet here approx 10 minutes before the start time): TKirknewton Village Hall.
• OS Grid Ref: NT 914 303
• Postcode: NE71 6XG

Going north past Wooler on the A697, turn left at Akeld onto the B6351. At Kirknewton village park alongside the village hall.

For those wishing to use GPS/Sat-Nav to find walk start points please note that, particularly in open-country, postcodes cover a large area, so, whilst the postcode will get you to the right general area, you will still need to follow the detailed directions to locate the actual Walk Start Point.
