This is a great opportunity for sharing HR issues with colleagues from other local organisations. We are an informal, friendly, local HR forum and share best practice in open discussions and benefit from each other’s knowledge and experience. HR backgrounds of members include legal, recruitment, learning and development, pay and rewards across a range of size of organisation in the public, private and third sectors. Because we enjoy learning and supporting others to learn and when it comes to HR issues, sometimes it’s good to know it’s not just you!
Brexit – share experiences and consider what HR professionals can influence within our organisations.
- What are the Government’s plans?
- What plans have we got for Brexit in our organisations?
- What is the effect of Brexit now in our organisations and how are we managing these issues?
- plus sharing best practice (Including CIPD’s viewpoints)
This will be followed by the opportunity for an “open mic” session - your opportunity to raise an issue that you would like feedback on from HR colleagues.
We are very fortunate to now have a speaker for the event, Chris Hovenden, a solicitor in employment law from Cripps LLP. He recently spoke at the Employment Law update in West Kent and was an excellent presenter and gave a most interesting take on Brexit issues.
Chris trained at Vizards Wyeth, qualifying in April 2011, before spending four years as an in-house employment lawyer for the Discovery Channel. During his time at the Discovery Channel Chris advised on a wide range of employment law matters, often involving multiple jurisdictions. More recently he worked as a journalist for Time Inc.'s cycling titles, although the allure of returning to the legal world proved too strong.
There will also be lots of time for discussion, sharing best practice and Q and A.
Professional photography and video production will be taking place at the event, and these images may be used on future promotional materials for CIPD. Please note that by attending the event, you are giving your consent for your image to be used on any CIPD promotional materials.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
Parking opposite in Trinity Theatre car park (TN1 1JP) or in Crescent Road Multi storey (TN1 2LU)
Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?
Please feel free to contact Elaine Bolton on 01892 862064 or 07749 206865 and please inform her if you are unable to attend on the day but have booked a slot
When & Where
CIPD Kent Branch
We are the Kent branch of CIPD - the professional body for HR and people development. The not-for-profit organisation champions better work and working lives and has been setting the benchmark for excellence in people and organisation development for more than 100 years.
We have a wide range of organisations and CIPD membership and we respond to this with a full selection of CPD and networking opportunities.
Due to the geographical spread of the county we have 3 area groups – Mid Kent, West Kent and East Kent. Between them they regularly hold sessions with guest speakers on subjects requested by the members. Most events are supported by local companies who host the events and provide an opportunity to meet other HR practitioners.
We also appreciate the specialisms within HR and have Special Interest Groups that meet regularly and occasionally have speakers. These groups include Health and Social Care and Senior Practitioners. Similarly we have smaller bespoke groups, Self Managed Learning Groups that operate throughout the county. These include the Coaching Groups in East Kent and West Kent. We encourage the creation of new groups so if there is not an area covered, why not set one up?
Come along to an event and meet our friendly and welcoming committee members and the wonderful HR community of Kent!
