Event description

Description

This free staff CPD event is being organised on behalf of West Midlands Combined Authority to offer basic skills in planning and designing infrastructure to the modern standards set out in the West Midlands Cycling Design Guidance. It is open to all Council staff (and their consultants subject to authorisation by TfWM) in the West Midlands but places are limited so book early.

The course covers the core principles of designing for cycle traffic, essential dimensions, and design of links, junctions, crossings and cycle parking features in different circumstances. Attendees will leave the course with a good understanding of the key features on cycle routes and knowledge of where to obtain further more detailed information to help with design work.

The aim of the course is to be informal and interactive to enable peer discussion of how to adapt design guidance into real-world situations typical to the West Midlands.
