This event is suitable for any deputy and assistant head teachers looking to build their skills and features four keynote speakers. Refreshments will be available on arrival and lunch is included for the day.
Russell Hobby - Current educations issues and their impact on schools and SLT
Russell Hobby is general secretary of the National Association of Head Teachers. NAHT is the largest union for school leaders in the UK, representing over 28,500 members in every phase of education. Before taking up this post in 2010, Russell worked as a management consultant and in the software industry. Russell is also a trustee of the Brilliant Club, Teaching Leaders and the Teacher Development Trust. He is a member of the advisory board of Future Leaders, the management board for NAHT Edge and the Independent State School Partnership forum.
James Bowen - Middle leaders and headship
James Bowen is the national Director of NAHT Edge, the teaching union for middle leaders. James was previously the Headteacher of an outstanding Junior school in Hampshire. He has held a variety of leadership positions in schools including SENCo, subject leader and Deputy Head. He is passionate about developing leadership at all levels in schools, speaking and writing regularly on the topic.
Dr Jill Berry - Aspiring leadership
Jill taught for 30 years across the state and independent sectors, and was a head for the last ten. Since 2010 she has worked as a freelance leadership consultant, been an Associate for the National College for Teaching and Leadership and completed a Professional Doctorate in Education, researching the transition from deputy headship to headship. Her book, based on this research and her own experience, 'Making the Leap - Moving from Deputy to Head' (2016), is published by Crown House.
Jill is a great advocate for the power of Twitter, blogs and social media as a source of networking and professional development. She tweets at @jillberry102, and blogs using the platform @staffrm.

Paul is one of the NAHT Regional Officers, based in Yorkshire, and has many years of experience across the education sector and representing our members.

Do I need my membership number to book?
Yes. If you are booking a member place you will be required to enter the correct membership number. You can find your membership number by phoning membership on 0300 3030333 option 2.

Is my booking transferrable?
Bookings may only be transferred at the discretion of the Professional Development team. These will need to be made in writing to firstname.lastname@example.org before the event. Transfers and cancellations may be subject to a charge.
Within 20 working days - 25% charge
Within 10 working days - 50% charge
Within 5 working days - 75% charge
Within 2 working days - 100% charge
Can I update my registration information?
Any updates to your booking must be made in writing to the Professional Development team at email@example.com
Does the name on the booking need to match the attendee?
The names of each individual attendee must be entered during the booking process along with a unique email address for each attendee as this will be used for the final confirmation.
