Event description

Description

You are invited to join the Steering Group for this piece of research on 26 April 2018 – 1pm – 5pm. (Registration at 1 pm – meeting starts at 1.15pm) at Trowers and Hamlins Office, 10 Colmore Row, Birmingham, B3 2QD. This meeting will provide the opportunity to comment on two workstreams and how they should be brought together:

· Models of financing energy efficiency retrofit and of securing a return on investment

· Research findings on how to maximise the benefits of energy efficiency retrofit

Since the Steering Group last met and recommendations were made at the SHAP WMHOG event on 27 November 2017, the next stage of research has been commissioned.

On 26 April 2018, we will be looking at the emerging West Midlands Financial Models for Energy Efficiency Retrofit and making suggestions on:

· What else needs to be done

· How to continue to embed awareness of the opportunities at stake from investing in energy efficiency retrofit related to housing outcomes with local authorities and their key stakeholders.

A briefing paper will be sent to attendees in advance of the meeting.

The final draft report will be launched at the SHAP conference on 15 May 2018 at Sandwell Council House.

This piece of work is seen as fundamental in driving investment to secure better quality outcomes for our housing stock. SHAP is currently developing the opportunities to raise awareness of this research:

· It has recently been confirmed that SHAP, on behalf of SWM and the WMCA, is leading on developing and reporting on the Green buildings workstream for the WMCA Environment Priorities and Delivery Board, chaired by the WMCA Environment Portfolio Holder, Cllr Patrick Harley.

· SHAP is contracted by Greater Birmingham and Solihull LEP to deliver Technical Assistance to support project development leading to bids for ERDF for low carbon housing innovation projects (new build and retrofit) and to bids for whole place solutions through Sustainable Urban Development ERDF calls.
