Event description

Description

Cross-country is a great fun way to keep fit during the winter. Unlike the track, cross country races take place off-road where it is often muddy. Cross-country is a team event where you score points for the position you finish. For example, finishing in 1st place may earn you 200 points, finishing in 2nd 199 points and so on.... The points from the first five athletes in each club to finish are added together and the club with the most points is the winner.

LAA has recently entered the West Midland Young Athletes Cross Country League (WMYACCL). This is a series of five races taking place across the Midlands and it is open to all abilities. Even if you aren't scoring points as a top 5 club finisher, every place counts as you could be ahead of the top 5 finisher from another club and help your team out that way so cross-country really is for everyone.

Individual entries to each of the five races in the WMYACCL are available here. The timetable and distances are as follows:

11.00 U17 Women (approx. 4k)

11.25 U11 Boys (approx. 1.6k)

11.40 U17 Men (approx. 4.8k)

12.05 U11 Girls (approx. 1.6k)

12.20 U15 Boys (approx. 3.2k)

12.40 U13 Girls (approx. 2.5k)

13.00 U13 Boys (approx. 2.5k)

13.20 U15 Girls (approx. 3.2k)

Entry to each event closes on the Wednesday before at midnight. To be eligiable to compete you must be EA affiliated (see Rachel Berney for questions with this) and you must have a LAA vest. Vests can be borrowed or purchased from the club. To get your size go to: http://www.leamingtonathletics.co.uk/laa-competition-vest/.

Entry costs £5 per athlete per event and the fees will be invoiced to you directly. Please do not pay in cash.
