West of Scotland IOSH Community - Mountain Rescue

By IOSH West of Scotland Community

Overview

Join West of Scotland IOSH Community for an engaging and informative event on Mountain Rescue Scotland and Keeping Safe in the Mountains.

This session offers an introduction to both Scottish Mountain Rescue and Mountaineering Scotland, exploring how mountain rescue operations function across Scotland. Learn what the data tells us about the real risks of mountaineering, and gain valuable insights into the essential rules, regulations, and safety practices that help keep people safe in the mountains.

Our speaker, Ross, brings a unique and practical perspective on mountain safety through his extensive experience as a Senior Mountain Safety Advisor with Mountaineering Scotland and Team Leader with Arrochar Mountain Rescue Team on Scotland’s west coast.

Whether you’re a mountaineering enthusiast, safety professional, or simply interested in outdoor safety and risk management, this session will deepen your understanding of how mountain rescue operates and how to stay safe in Scotland’s challenging and beautiful mountain environments.

This is your opportunity to expand your knowledge to enhance your professional journey. This event plans to cover the following IOSH competencies: Risk assessment and analysis (Technical), Risk identification and profiling (Technical), Risk control, mitigation, and resilience (Technical) at Understand Level.

The event is open to members and non-members. If you have dietary, accessibility, or other requirements, please contact us at communities@iosh.com in advance.
