The WEST Scholarship Programme (Widening Education and Supporting Talent) helps students overcome financial barriers to higher education, empowering them to thrive academically and personally. Many of our scholars are the first in their families to attend university, and face additional challenges such as care responsibilities or estrangement. WEST Scholarships offer not just financial relief, but the freedom to embrace the full university experience.
We’re also proud to share that UWS has been named The Times and The Sunday Times Scottish University of the Year for Social Inclusion 2026, recognising our commitment to widening access and reducing inequalities in higher education.
