West side of Cheviot Tour
Sun 2 April 2017, 08:30 – 15:30 BST
Guided walk around the less visited side of Northumberlands highest hill, Cheviot (815 m).
The west side of Cheviot is full of magnificent vistas, folklore and hidden nooks and crannies, from huge geological gorges, crashed aircraft to local legends. This 9 mile guided walk, although steep in some places will show you the other side of Cheviot, the forgotten side.
During the walk, it is quite possible you will not see another soul on the route. Starting at the head of the College Valley, as well as the best views in the Cheviots, you will see waterfalls, locations of legends and the remnants of a second World War Bomber and may be even cross over into another country!.
Hear the story of Black Adam sometimes known as “The Rider of Cheviot” and his murderous antics with Wight Fletcher of Wooperton. Or indeed the Faries of Henhole and then spell-binding music….
Walk starts and ends at Mounthooly YHA in the College Valley. GR NT 881 225
