Nicola Morgan, The Teenage Brain Woman, has an unparalleled knowledge and understanding of how teenage minds work and has shared her insights around the world in engaging talks that fascinate, reassure and empower both adults and young people themselves. Your teenagers are all individual but at this event Nicola will show you what drives adolescent behaviours, why anxiety is a major feature and why potholes necessarily exist on the road to independence. She will also provide many strategies in resources for you to take away.
Nicola is an alumna of Westonbirt School and an internationally-acclaimed author and speaker. She was originally an English teacher whose work with dyslexic students led her to train in Specific Learning Difficulties, which in turn led to her lasting interest in the learning brain. She was a multi-award-winning teenage novelist before writing the best-selling Blame My Brain – the Amazing Teenage Brain Revealed, which has been a best-seller for nearly twenty years, translated into many languages, and reprinted countless times. As well as her novels and books for younger children, including Thomas the Tank Engine books, she has written on stress, peer pressure and friendships, screen time and social media, body image, sleep, resilience, brain health, anxiety, all aspects of wellbeing and looking after one’s brain, and the science of reading. In 2018, she was awarded the SLA’s prestigious award for Outstanding Contribution to Information Books.
This is a special exclusive event taking place at Westonbirt School to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Nicola's best-selling title, Blame My Brain - The amazing teenage brain revealed. Nicola has written many other books on topics including anxiety and stress, resilience, sleep, screens, peer pressure and friendships. Bookselling and signing will take place on the night.
