About this event

Community • Heritage

We hope you can join us for our Horner Celebration Day! Join us on the 11th of October for a day of celebrating our collection of photographs from Settle's Horner Photographic studio. We will be unveiling our community quilt, demonstrating wet plate photography methods, and sharing our online catalogue of photographs.

As a community member who helped us create our cyanotype quilt, we would love to invite you to have your portrait taken using a similar wet plate photography method to what the Horner Studio would have used.

Experienced photographer Tony Richards will take your portrait, from preparing the plates to developing the final image. We will contact you after the event for you to collect your very own tin type portrait.

This time slot is for one photograph only. If you would like to have someone with you in your photograph please reserve one ticket and bring along whoever you would like to share your portrait with. We will be inviting museum visitors to observe the wet plate process and so please note there may be members of the public observing your portrait being taken.

We hope to see you there!
