Event description
Learn from the experts about the Foley Sound department. This is an event for all women working in the film and television industry.

About this Event

WFTV’s new series of tech focussed events is designed to offer practical advice and expert knowledge to enable you to deliver the best film or programme possible. The events will be particularly helpful for members working outside of these areas who want to learn more about how these departments operate.

Hosted by Emma Butt, dubbing mixer, sound editor, ADR recordist and former WFTV mentee, each week we’ll hear from industry experts in different technical departments including Sound (both production and post), Editing, Grading, VFX, Animation and Post Production Management who will share with us ways to enhance your material, trouble shoot issues and best plan the workflow and delivery of your project. This week, we are delighted to be joined by Jemma Riley-Tolch (Head of Foley- Foley Mixer), Zoe Freed and Rebecca Heathcote (Foley Artists).

The all-female award-winning Foley team have been working together for many years and have grown in their individual crafts alongside one another. Starting at Pinewood Studios and having recently made the move to Molinare, they have worked on a number of Blockbusters and Award-Winning Films, TV shows and Games. Last year they were part of the team that were Emmy nominated for their work on Watership Down. They work closely together, each bringing their individual styles to create some truly unique sounds. Their most recent credits include; Misbehaviour, Klaus, The Witcher, Bohemian Rhapsody and Fantastic Beasts. Games include The Division 2 and Man of Medan.

Some of the areas we will cover:

- What to ask before you start working on your show

-Workflow: What unique considerations does each department have?

- Trouble shooting: What are the common problems, and how can they be avoided?

- How to co-ordinate your project effectively between different technical departments.

So whether you’re new to the industry or established in your role and want a better understanding of the technical journey your film or show takes, join us to hear from technical experts who will leave you armed with new knowledge to help you deliver your best.
